Special Swimming

Boys getting ready to swim

By Sussan

On the first two weeks of Term 4 we had special swimming at Manly Swimming Centre. People had to bring a permission note if they wanted to go.  We went every day in those two weeks at 12:30pm.

The girls went to Miss Key's room to get changed.  The boys went to Mrs McNaughtan's room to change. After changing we go out to wait for the bus.  When the bus comes we line up to get on the  bus.

When we got there we sat down on the seats and put our towls down, then our swimming teachers came to take us to the swimming pool that we were going to swim in.

It was the same everyday except for the last day, because it was activity day.  First we had a safety talk then we got to play.

At the end of the course we all got a certificate to show how we had improved.

Everyday for the first two weeks of term 4 we went to this special swimming scheme for people who aren't able to swim 25 metres.

In the first day they have to see which people are good swimmers and the ones that are unable to swim. The teacher looked at us swim. There were 5 groups from highest to lowest  and I was put in the highest group.

We do Backstroke, Freestyle and also Breaststroke and sometimes using the kickboard and also treading water.

At the end of the second week we went to do our test and show the teacher how we had improved. We did treading water for a  freestyle and backstroke.

We all enjoyed our days and it wasn't cold because the water was heated.
