Anthony Mundine is a former Rugby League player
with Saint George in Sydney. He played in the 5/8 position. He
made headline news when he announced that he would step into the boxing ring,
like his father, ex-boxer Tony Mundine.
Mundine was born on 21 May in Camperdown, NSW. In 1993 he played
for the Australian School Boys when he was 18 years old.
In 1993 Anthony Mundine played for the Australian School Boys. In
1994 he played for the Australian Junior team and in 1995 the Australian
Junior Kangaroos. He also made it into the Sydney City team.
In 1999 he played for the NSW State of Origin team. But in 2000 Mundine
switched to boxing and beat former New Zealand champion Gerrard Zohse.
A week later Mundine was crowned Aboriginal Person of the Year at the
NAIDOC ball.
Anthony was considered one of the most exciting player to watch when he
played League as he had a natural athletic ability that could turn a game
around in a short period of time.
