Alec Hayden was undoubtedly the best Aboriginal
rodeo rider ever. Alec Hayden was born in Piggot camp, Queensland, in 1909. He not only had a great career, but he is still remembered in the rodeo world. Hayden won the Australian Saddle Bronc Championship in 1936, 1938 and 1939. He also won the National Bullock Riding title in 1941. Alec Hayden was thrown and crushed to death by a blind weaner while cattle-drafting at Auburn Station. He was 34 years of age. |
