Early Life

* Arthur William Fadden was born on 13th April 1895 in Ingham, North Queensland.
* Arthur went to Walkerston Public School.
* After Arthur left school he started work as a cane cutter.
* Arthur William Fadden married Lima Thronber in 1916 and had 3 children.
* In 1918 to start his own accountancy business in Townsville.
* In the year 1930 he was elected to the City Council.

Achievements in Parliament

* He transferred to the federal politics in 1936 as a Country Party member for Darling Downs holding the seat until he retired in 1958.
* He was confirmed as CP leader on the 21st March 1941 and retained the position for the next 17 years until March 1958.
* Arthur Fadden served as Prime Minister from the 29th of August until the 7th of October 1941.
* Arthur W Fadden was only prime minster for 40 days, the shortest time of any Prime Minister. He was the 17th Prime Minister.
