There are many example of rock art and carvings by the Kuringgai people throughout the Northern Beaches area of Sydney. Images representing animals, birds, fish, tools and people can be found on large sandstone platforms with vast views across their lands. In other parts they have decorated caves and rock overhangs. The message or importance of these is not fully known as little of their beliefs was ever recorded by early Europeans. Their age can be up to 12 000 years old but we are unsure.
