There were "outside" ceremonies that everyone attended and "inside" ceremonies where only some people attended. These may be just for men only or for women only.
The first real 'Inside' ceremony that a man attends is often called an Initiation Ceremony. This ceremony is used to help transform a boy into a man. Often the young man would experience pain. The Kuringgai would cut and mark a young man's skin and also knock the a tooth out. They were taught to be self-reliant.
On occasions clans would join with other clans to celebrate and feast.
