Penny Hall talking to the children about her books.

By Christopher

On the 31st of August 2001 Years 4, 5 and 6 went to the Warringah Mall Library and saw Penny Hall. Penny Hall is a famous Australian children's author.

First she introduced herself and told us about her early life. She told us about a game she knew how to play so we played it. You had to make a sentence and pass it round like Chinese Whispers. It was fun and I was good at it.

We sat on the floor and started to play another game, it was an example of what things went up and down and other things like what rules a dad would make if you lived in a cave.

I had a good time and I hope I go another time.

On the 31st of July we visited Penny Hall at Warringah Mall Library because our 5's and 6's wrote in the Nestle Young Writer's Competition.

Firstly our Year 6 went down and Mr Taylor took them down to see Penny Hall. Then it was Year 5 taken down by Ms Guina and they got her signature on their books.

After that Year 4 went down taken by Mr Taylor. We played this game that we tried to guess what was in the little bag, we were learning how to describe things. We had some questions like if you had to face a hungry bear what would you do?

I liked the day overall because we met Penny Hall, it was fun at the Mall when we had to guess what was in the bag.

When we got there she told us about how she writes. The Manly Daily newspaper came and took some photos. Then we played some games. She gave us a book mark and autographed them. She talked to us about writing books and we asked her some questions.

We went back to school, I had lots of fun.

On Wednesday the 31st of July Years 4, 5 and 6 went to Warringah Mall Library to see a famous Australian author Penny Hall.

She told us how she became a writer and after she told about her past and we asked some questions. She told us about some of the books she had written and she showed us her drafts. Then we played one of her families old games. We had to write a sentence then cover it and pass it to the other person but they are not allowed to look at it. At the end of the line we read what everyone wrote.

Then we got bookmarks and then we went back to school.
