On the 3rd of May, two prefects were chosen to go and
represent the school at a Leadership
Training Day. My dad dropped Rosanna and I at Terry
Hills Public School.
When we arrived there we had to go into the hall to get our names marked off the list and get our name tags. After that the Vice-Principal of Terry Hills Public School told all of the children to go around and ask the children from the other schools if they liked particular food, played a sport, what month that our birthday was in, played an instrument, and if we came from a foreign country.
After we finished that we had to go into our groups. There were 4 groups. One was Public Speaking, another was Qualities and Skills of a Leader and lastly Planning an Event.
In Public Speaking we had to stand up in front of the class. They'd give you a topic to say things about. For example my topic was netball and I'd have to say things like your not allowed to step with the ball, girls play netball, netball is a sport, I play netball and anything else.
Next they called out famous names and whoever wanted that person got it. I got swimmer Susie O'Neill. We had to go to the tables and read it and write some information. Then we had to read it out to everyone. The high school people were there to help the people that was judging us and told us if was it was good or bad and if we did something wrong.
At the second group we had to listen to a story about a boy who was the captain of the class. He had to turn on and off the light every day. He was the only one who knew how to do it.
The last group was planning an event. What we had to do was get 4 people into our group and 1 high school person and start writing on the long piece of paper. We had to plan who would run the event.
After our last group we had to go back to the hall and give our name tags back. Then we had to fill in a sheet about if we liked the day. We got our certificate and we came back to school with Jenny's dad. We learnt a lot on the day.
Great leadership shown by Prefects.

On the 3rd of May, Jenny and I went to a Leadership Day at Terry Hills Public School. It is a day when kids from different schools come and learn skills like public speaking, running a meeting and how to fix problems.
My first activity was fixing problems with Mrs. Ferguson then running a meeting with Ms Simmons and my last one was with Ms Fox doing public speaking. There was 6 colours yellow, green, pink, orange, red and blue. I was a red.
My favourite activity was the public speaking. In public speaking you had to try not to say 'um'. Only 3 people made it and I was one of them. After the contest we wrote a speech for inviting somebody to our school, I invited Kieran Perkins.
