The Ballroom inside the Government House.
On the 30th of August Years 4, 5 and 6 went Government House, we left school at about 9:30am. When we arrived we put our bags in a big box and went into Government House.
First we went in the Ballroom to be sorted into three groups, we were taken around by one guide in each group. The first group went to the Governor's Study, it had a desk, a meeting table, some bookshelves and lots more.
The next room we went to was the Dining Room. Emma-Jean was sitting where the Governor sits when she eats, in the middle. We were pretending that we were talking to the Governor but we called her Your Excellency.
After that we went to the Lounge Room, it was pretty big. It had two huge mirrors on two sides of the wall but it didn't have a TV. It looked very nice. We talked about lots of things about the Governor.
After we went back to the Ballroom and we told stories about really brave people who saved other drowning people from the sea, they were presented a gold medal for bravery by the Governor.
Before we left we were presented some medallions with the Government House in the middle we had to curtsey and bow before we got our medallions.
I had lots of fun in Government House!
In front of the Government House.
On the 30th of August Years 4, 5 and 6 went to Government House. We left school at about 9:30am. When we got there we put our bags in a big bin then we went inside and went into 3 groups.
First our group went into the Governor‘s Study. We talked about what she does there like how she signs bills from the government to make them law. Then we went into the Dining Room, her table fitted up to 32 people because it could be extended.
After that we went to the Ballroom again and we had to wait for the other two groups. Then we received our medals.
I thought it was a lot of fun.
Trying hard to answer the questions.
On Thursday 30/8/01 Years 4, 5 and 6 went to Government House in Sydney. It is beside Sydney Harbour in the Botanical Gardens.
When we got there we put our bags in a box. Then we looked at the building and then went in. We walked through a hall which had pictures of some of the past Governors.
We entered a room which was called the Ballroom which had chairs, a big piano and a few medals in a glass display. There was a part of the ballroom that has a staircase that leads to a place above the ground where the band played.
We went through the hall until we got to the Entrance and entered a room called the Study. Our guide asked us a few questions then we left.
Then we went to the room that had the Coats of Arms and we studied them. Our next room was called the Dining Room. This is where the Governor entertains special guests. We found out two things, one that the table extends to hold 32 people and the Governor sat in the middle of the table.
We went back to the Ballroom, received our small medallions then we left. I liked the excursion because it was interesting.
