On Friday the 24th of August, Joseph and Matilda went to State Parliament House, all the captains from the Northern Beaches Schools went except for some of the people that went to PSSA sport. I went there by car and Joseph went by Ferry. We met there.

Brad Hazzard, our local member of the NSW Parliament was our guide. About 10 minutes after I arrived we started the tour. The first thing we did was go into the old library inside Parliament House and had some morning tea.

We moved on into the red room called the Legislative Assembly and Brad Hazard told a speech about how important we are to be captain's of our school, and how we represented our school at special events. Then we moved on and went into the green room called the Legislative Council. Brad Hazzard said another brief speech on other kinds of leaders like himself, and we could grow up to be like him if we start when we are young.

Brad Hazzard gave us all a certificate for being such great captains, and we got a brochure on Parliament.

When the tour was over, we walked down to the ferry and we went back to Manly and went by car back to school. I had a great day and I'm proud to be a captain.

On Friday, the 24th of August, Matilda, my parents and myself went on an excursion to the New South Wales State Parliament House in Sydney. When I first got there, we were in a large round room with glass walls and a large fountain in the middle. Around the other side were works of art, there was a model of a man on a horse made of electrical equipment, representing technology.

Brad Hazzard the local member came to lead us on a tour. First he took us into a room full of books which contained everything every minister said during an argument. This was where we had lunch. All around the walls was information about how State Parliament was made. In the beginning, State Parliament had just been a little rectangular house, starting from where you first walk in.

After finishing lunch we went into a red room, where Brad Hazzard told us some of the history of State Parliament and answered our questions Then asked some of his own, to see how much we knew about it. He also showed us some artifacts like a black sceptre and a short but thick gold pole that belonged to the queen. After he finished telling us information about State Parliament, he led us into a green room where we were presented with our certificates.

I think State Parliament is very important.
