Freshwater Beach.
On the 16th of February Years 3 to 6 went to Freshwater Beach to learn about safety at the beach. We caught a bus there and when we arrived the lifeguards were waiting for us. We sat down on the beach and they showed us the beach signs.
The first sign was ‘Beach Closed‘ he said if it that sign is out that it means the surf is too rough and dangerous and you can‘t swim. The next sign was ‘Blue Bottles‘ he said if there are blue bottles at the beach you can still swim at the beach but just be aware that there are blue bottles and that you might get stung. They really hurt. There were a lot of other signs too.
The next thing he showed us was the rubber ducky or inflatable rubber boat (IRB). They showed us how it was used.
After that we went for a swim in the pool. The water was warm.
At the end we walked back to the bus we received a bag
full of posters and stuff including a drink bottle, suscreen and skin cream.
We had a great afternoon.

On the 16th of February, Years 3 to 6 went to Freshwater Beach and learnt about beach signs, beach rules and other safe things you should do when your at the beach.
We saw rescue boats like the rubber ducky where it had things like oars and other things.
There was a floatation device so if someone was drowning a lifeguard would swim to the person that is drowning and put the floating device around the person's body and then the lifeguard swims back to the shore pulling the person.
Always read the warning signs.

On the 16th of February classes 3 to 6 went to Freshwater Beach for Sport to learn about beach safety, we travelled there by a bus.
Then these lifeguards came out but only one of them explained while the rest just watched. The lifeguards name was Brett, he showed us different stuff like the rip or current. Well you can tell when there is a rip in the beach because the water is darker and it goes back the water. If you get caught in a rip it is very dangerous and you can get taken out to sea.
After that he showed us the different signs that are warning us like there are bluebottles, pollution water, no surfing because its to dangerous, swim between the flags and many more.
When your in trouble you must put your hand up so they can see you and save you with the rescue tube, rescue board or the rubber ducky.
When we finished we got are free swim then we went back to school. We had are great day.
A Rubber Ducky ready if needed.
On Febuary the 16th, Years 3 to 6 went to Freshwater Beach. When we got there we looked at all the signs, there were ones that said polluted water, beach closed, blue bottles and lots more.
They showed us a demonstration on someone being rescued! Then they asked us some questions like what do you do when you need help? They said put your hand up and scream HELP! The lifeguards names were Brett and Mat.
Mat showed us the rescue boat it was so big, they said nearly 20 people can fit in it!!
After that we went to the pool but first we looked at some rips there were so many! They are very dangerous. We moved on to the pool, it was so shallow but it was still fun.
We got out of the pool and went back to the bus and we
got some prizes! I had fun!
