The Coastal Tea Tree is common to the Coastal areas of New South
Wales, South
Australia and Queensland.
It is called the tea-tree because the leaves will change water to a tea colour. Captain Cook made tea by boiling the leaves of a New Zealand variety on one of his early explorations of the area.
