Togan Lunch

Making the lunch.

By Marlene

Last Wednesday the Togan Students and Mrs. Thomas had to bring in food to make a surprise lunch for Mrs. MacDonagh in the Art and Craft room.

We cooked the food in Togan and Italian classes. Some of the other classes watched us cook the food. We made a Togan food called lu pulu and some sweet potato.

We invited some of the other teachers like Mr. Taylor and the Year 6 Samoan and Nuians students to join us. They enjoyed it and none was left.

On Wednesday the 30th of August, the Tongan class from 5/6T made a surprise for Mrs. Mac Donagh. We cooked a special Tongan Lunch for her during our Tongan classes. Mrs. Thomas helped us.

We each had to bring in something so that we could use it to cook with. We cooked during our Tongan lessons and we cooked through lunch. I had to bring in a pot and foil. The pot was used to cook Sweet Potato and Taro in. This is a type of potato that you eat with Tongan food.

At Recess, Seiana and I were asked to go to the Fruit Market and buy some Sweet Potato. We had permission for Mr. Richard. When we came back, we went to the Tongan room and we cooked it.

Before Lunch, we set up the Tongan room, invited Mr. Taylor and Mrs. MacDonagh to lunch. We also invited Jesmin, Paul and Robin to the lunch.

We had Lu Pulu, Sweet Potato and Taro. We had Punch for the drink. For desert, we had a pie, that Mrs. Thomas made at home. Mr. Richard wasn't able to come because he wasn't at school  but we saved him some in the oven which he enjoyed later.

The food was great! I hope we could do cooking before the Year 6's leave the school.
