Farewell Joe and June

Joe and June at the Asembly.

By Jenny

A few weeks  ago in Term 4, the school had a Farewell Assembly for June and Joe because they were going to retire. June and Joe is going to move to the country.

Although Joe and June are really our school cleaners, they help the school with a lot of things for an example teaching us knitting, training and helping with football, plant the garden, water the garden, cooking the barbecue and more other things. Some of the other things that June and Joe did was  clean up the rubbish from the floor, empty the bins, vacuum the classrooms, clean the tables and wash the windows.

When June and Joe came into the hall we all started clapping and when we stopped clapping Joe said "keep on clapping". Two people from each class gave June and Joe a card. I was taking photos when they handed the cards over to June and Joe.

When the Leolelei Singers sang the song June started crying. Mrs Wright and Mrs McGrath made up the song. After the Leolelei Singers sang, Kindy did a performance. When the Kindies finished performing Mrs Caruso said thank you to June and Joe and gave them flowers.

After assembly we had to go outside and stand in a line, the girls on one side and the boys on the other side. When June and Joe came down the stairs we all started clapping and shouting our school war cry "Brooky! Brooky! Brooky! Oi! Oi! Oi!

I was in front of them taking photos. The children were shaking hands with them.

A few weeks ago our school had a farewell Assembly for June and Joe. We had the assembly  for June and Joe because they where retiring. June and Joe worked in our school for a long time so we wanted to do  something good for them. Joe and June where the cleaners in are school.

Each class in our school made a big card for them. The Leolelei Singers sang a song that Mrs Wright and Mrs Mc Grath made up. Kindy did a performance too. When they finished Mrs Caruso thanked them and gave them a pot plant.

At the end of Assembly everybody stood in two lines and as June and Joe came out everybody started to clap.

We wish Joe and June are happy in their retirement, we will miss them.
