Children in the Life Education Van

By Xin Xin

A couple weeks ago we had a Life Education Week. It was tell us about the things which are dangerous or nice in our life. We saw a van which was parked near the oval. Each class had to go with their teacher after recess or lunchtime.

After recess it was Year 5's turn to go to the Healthy Harold Van. We lined up outside the van and a lady who's name was Angela, she came out and told us what we were supposed to do. We went inside the van quietly and we sat on the floor.

First Angela asked a few questions about drugs as she went to get a paper and a texta for Alexis and Ivy. She told us how many people has got drugs in Australia and more things about drugs. We were separated into groups and each group has to work together.

We watched a video that taught us not bring cigarette to school or anywhere, because it is not healthy for you. Angela also told us  what to do when your school mate wants to smoke with you and you don't want to smoke.

At end we sang the song Harold the puppet giraffe and Angela gave us some stickers. We thanked her as we went back to our classroom. We each got a Healthy Harold book from Mr. Taylor to do in class.

Choosing a partner for an activity

On the 23rd of August our school had a Life Education week where there was this puppet called Healthy Harold. It was about learning how  to live healthy and how dangerous drugs are.

There was a lady who's name was Angela. Each class from our school went to Life Education Day. There was a van which was parked near our school oval. We all knew that it was the Life Education van because it had Healthy Harold's picture at the side of the van.

When it was little lunch Annalisa, Monica, Rosanna, Matilda and I wrote a letter to Healthy Harold. It was the Year 5's turn to go to Life Education, we lined up near the van. When Angela opened the van's door she told us to go in quietly and to put our hats at the corner of the van.

When we got in Angela got out a big board, she picked 2 people to write all the drugs that other children from our group says. She told us more things about drugs. She told us that more than 13000 people in Australia die from using cigarettes. She told and showed us lots more things about drugs. We played a game where we had to act.

We got separated into lots of groups and there would be 3 people each group. After a while we watched a video about kids that use cigarettes. When it was time to go Angela took out Harold and then he sang to us.

When we had to go, we took our hats. When we got to the classroom we got our Life Education book. We all had a great time that day and I hope it would be the same for next year.
