Harry's Practice crew studying the silkworms

By Joseph

On the 22nd of October the film crew and co-star from Harry's Practice came to Brookvale School to film a segment on silkworms. All the year fives in Mr. Taylor's class were in it. Dr.Harry couldn't come becuase he was in hospital caring for an animal,b ut the co-star of the show Kathrine
Reely came.

Each of us did a different segment then we did one all together. Marko and Ivy got filmed getting a box of silkworms ready to put them in.

In the meantime one of the camera crew people came and showed us how the microphone worked, and let all of us have a listen, I thought it was pretty cool that you could listen short distances and then adjust it to long distances, quite handy.

When they left we had to type up a report on silkworms. Our homework was to write a report on silkworms  and the day that the crew from Harry's Practice came.

On the 30th of October 2000, Year 5 from Mr. Taylor's class went to Harry's Practice. We had some TV crews in the Library. There was Kate Feely the presenter, Andrew the one that records our voices, Andre the cameraman and Katherine the producer.

When the bell rang for class Jenny, Annalisa, Joseph, Marko, Xin Xin and I went to the Library. We saw the TV crews and then Mr. Taylor introduced us to them.

First they interviewed Annalisa on why she likes silkworms and some information about the silkworms and then Joseph went. While they were gettinginterviewed the rest of us studied more about silkworms in the Library. Not all of us got interviewed.

After a while we had to go outside to the oval, where the TV crews were. We sat down on a semi-circle and Kate said some words to the camera and we had to just sit down and act normal. Kate had to repeat what she was saying because she made some mistakes.

After we finished, Mr. Taylor asked Xin Xin if she would like to tell the TV crews about the silkworms which came from China and we went back in the Library.

After a while they finished interviewing Xin Xin we went near the preschool playground and Andre said that Marko and I had to put leaves and silkworms. We had to do it a few times as they filmed us.

When we finished the TV crews went and we thank them for having a nice morning together. Then we went to eat our recess and play till it was time to go to swimming.

I reckon that we all had a great day because we never did school work.

Silkworms going on television

On 30th of October 2000, Harry's Practice came to our school early in the morning. The main thing why they came to our school was to ask us about silkworms. When the bell rang, everybody had to go to the Assembly except the Year Fives in Mr Taylor's class. We went into the library and we were preparing for Harry's Practice.

The first person who went to Harry's Practice was Annalisa, Mr Taylor had chosen her. While Annalisa was away we were talking about silkworms and who's going next. Ivy and Jenny had an argument about that Jenny couldn't remember about the question does silkworms have brains? After a long time Mr Taylor came into the Library that he said he wanted us all go to Harry's Practice
together.

When we got there, we saw cameras and a round silver thing that does something with the light which a lady was holding it who was called Kate. There were two men and another lady who was the producer who also called Kate too. We all sat on a cloth which Mr Taylor from the Art and Craft room. The producer took a few silkworms from the box and put them on her hands. She talked about silkworms and she gave the magnifying glass to Jenny who was just sitting beside her. We all looked at the camera and that was great.

After we finished Mr Taylor asked me a few questions about silkworms. He told them that I came from China and I also did a few speeches in front of the camera.

We then went to a big tree which was in front of the car park of the school. Ivy and Marko did something about silkworms and looked at them while the camera was going too.

We all had a great day!
