ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
It is a Special Assembly to Commemorate Anzac Day. On the April 25th, Australians celebrate Anzac Day. It is a day for those who served in wars to gather, march and remember old friends. It is also a special day for all Australians to be thankful we live in a country without wars.
Our Special Guest Speaker was Captain John Webb. He showed a video about the ANZAC legend and spoke about how Australian soldiers help as peace keepers in countries such as Bouganville (Papua-New Guinea) and in East Timor. Captain Webb is an Armoured Corps officer which means he drives tanks.
Everyone listened carefully to what he had to say.

The Service was organised by Year 6 and the Captains thanked Captain
Webb for attending the Service andm speaking to us.
Dear family
I miss you very much. I hope the war finishes soon so I can come home. How is the whole family? I hope everyone is well.
I am fine but sometimes I get very scared! I get scared when I see my fellow soldiers die. I also get frightened when I get shot at. I get very sad sometimes because I miss you so much. It gets very cold, dark and lonely at night.
We live in trenches that are very narrow and smelly. The gunfire is extremely loud! The sound of the bombs also hurt my ears. The food is not very nice because it is never fresh.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Love from,
Xin Xin
Dear family,
I feel like running away back home, but there's two reasons why I
can't.
1. I'll get shot on sight.
2. I don't know where to run, you can't run from war.
They had to amputate a soldiers leg yesterday because it got shot. We've got 60 prisoners growing higher & we planned an attack at the reinforcments coming from the the ships (there not ours though).
We hid barbed wire underwater and when the ship docks we'll attack it so hard and they'll have to jump overboard into the barbed wire and get ripped up.
A rat ate someones baked beans and gnawed at my hair. I have pneumonia. Ticks are always in my ears, it's so frustrating, someone got deaf from the bombshells. Just don't give up on me, my mates are in a group and always stick together.
Well, have to go, moving to the front line.
Take Care
Your Loving Dad
Joseph
