Brookvale Public School

Peer Support

Andri and William

Brookvale Public School had a special fun day on the 15th of June for Peer Support.

Peer Support is about Year 5 and 6 leaders getting a group of about 8 younger children from the school and teaching them about what can they do to make new friends.

We enjoy Peer Support because it is fun. We have a chance to learn new things and meet new friends. We learn how to communicate with each other and work as a group with team work.

In groups we play games and do activities so we can build leadership skills. We like to help each other in groups by learning to co-operate. The leaders try to help other children to be more confident and to understand each other.

Helping each other in the Friendship Games.

By Andrew and Joseph

On Monday 15th of June our school had a special Peer Support Day. We had a  disco and Friendship Games. The Friendship Games has got lots of games but you  have to help each other. The games were like putting a hoop around your head  without letting go of your hands and running together in a hoop.

Peer Support is about Year 5 and 6 children leaders having a little group of  children. (About 8 or 9 children). We teach children about what friendship is.  We have Peer Support every Monday.

We enjoy Peer Support because we have fun participating in games and  activities. We have a chance to learn new things and meet new friends. All the leaders try to communicate with the younger children so then it will build our leadership skills.

Our group has to learn to co-operate or then the whole group will be a mess. We help each other so it will build confidence.

I think Peer Support is hard work and fun. Peer Support helps the classrooms and the playground be friendly and safe.

On this day we made Hands of Friendship. We traced a hand and wrote our names on them and things we like about Peer Support. We then scanned them and emailed them to our keypals in other schools.

We made Hands of Friendship by tracing a hand and writing our names on it and other things we like about Peer Support. We scanned them on the computer and emailed them to our keypals in other schools in other countries.
