Brookvale Public School

LIFE EDUCATION

By Alisi

On Monday the 17th of August the Life Education came to Brookvale Public School to  talk about drugs and alcohol. The lady who was talking about drugs and alcohol was called Angela. We all looked at body parts. We talked a lot about body parts and how alcohol could affect it.

Then we watched an awesome video about a girl's uncle. He was taking her and  her friend's to their basketball game but her friends thought that he was drunk so they all made a decision not to let him take them to the game.

Then our second video was about an older sister taking an younger sister to this party and the older sister is drinking when the older sister is meant to take the younger sister back home after the party in their mother's car.

We learnt a lot of things like:

* How to learn to say no to somebody when they will give alcohol to you.

* How alcohol affects your body.

* And how to tell if a person is drunk or not.

HEALTHY HAROLD

By Christian

On Monday the 16th of August, Year Six went to Life Education Van. It was about health and about our decisions when we are grown ups.

At first when we got there we were talking about how much alcohol should go in our bodies. At the age of twenty four years and over the amount of alcohol that should go in your body was 10mls of strong alcohol for women and 25mls of strong alcohol for men.

After talking about how much alcohol should go in your body we watched a video  about two boys trying to pour alcohol in two girls drinks. Then a boy around the age of ten came and stopped them. Then we were talking what would have happened if he did not stop them, if they poured the alcohol in the drinks and what would of happened if the girls drank it.

After that we were talking about how to tell when someone is drunk and all the choices that you would make as grown up's and also learning how to say NO!

We also learnt how alcohol harms your body. You can die behind the wheel of a car, fall asleep and also when you try to vomit and all the stuff gets stuck in your throat and you die.

Then we were talking about Nicotine which comes from smoking. At the age of thirty-five to fifty-six  most men and women get cancer from smoking and die.
